September 11, 2001

Faith Hope LoveSeptember 11, 2001 I remember exactly where I was when I learned about what was going on that day. I was at my home walking upstairs carrying a basket of laundry. As I got to the family room the phone rang so I grabbed it. It was my (then) husband telling me to turn the TV on.

I asked him what channel and I remember him getting upset telling me it didn’t really matter I just needed to turn the TV on. And so I turned the TV on and stood there watching the 2nd plane hit the south tower. I was dazed and confused and not really sure what was going on.

That day was surreal. As I sat in the basement as I started to grasp what was going on, I just had tears running down my face.

I didn’t know anyone that was in either tower. Yet as I watched, the lives lost, the families affected, the firefighters, the policemen, the EMT’s, and anyone who came running to help I was emotionally affected by what I was seeing.

Our country came together that day. Our country was together and whole for a while after that. It was as if we were the country that we were meant to be. We were united.

I pray that people don’t forget that day. I pray that our youth understands how that time changed our country. The sad thing is we have gone right back to what we were. The division, the hate, the lack of unity.

There have been a lot of things that have molded our country. You can read all about them in history books. I pray though that this doesn’t just become history in a book.

In 2011 not far from where we live, “Healing Fields” came here. If you have not had the chance to experience this I highly suggest you seek on out near you! A flag for each person who lost their life. A tag on each flag with a name, age, where they were, and something about them.

H-F-1This is Edward White.

He was 30 years old.

He was a firefighter.

He was a son.

He was a friend.

I won’t forget that day. I talk to my children about that day. I remember walking up and down the healing field and talking to them about what the flags were for and why.

I won’t forget!

Do not forget New York wasn’t the only place that had casualties!

Remembering everyone who lost a life, family member or friend that day!
